Jumper Training
Training at L’Acadiane Equine Management is based on cross training, which has proven to be essential in the well-roundedness and confidence of its horses.
What pole vaulting, high jump and hurdles are to track and field, jumping is to equestrian sport.
The goal for the Jumper is to negotiate a series of obstacles with an emphasis on the height and width of the jump, and to achieve the course within a certain amount of time. The jumping course tests a horse’s athleticism, agility and tractability while simultaneously testing a rider’s precision, accuracy and responsiveness. Perhaps most importantly, as with any equine sport, the partnership between horse and rider is the most notable factor in success.
Show Jumper Training
Vincent’s long experience training horses means he thinks about the partnership with the horse first and foremost, and prioritizes the match and rideability given a particular rider’s skillset. His training program is designed to replicate complex elements of showjumping courses in simplified ways, to build the confidence of the horse and rider together.
Throughout a given week, riders will work through different flatwork exercises, pole, and cavaletti elements each day, culminating in a Sunday Jump Day that incorporates everything they learned through the week in a more complex “course.” The result is that each rider has an arsenal of experience that they can call on during shows when facing complex course questions.
Vincent’s teaching style is direct and nuanced. Riders who are most successful with Vincent have an established riding background and are looking to cut through the noise and up their game through real insight and technical challenge, rather than fluff. Of course, the beauty of the L’Acadiane program is that Vincent also partners with Katie often to supplement training his jumper riders in more technical dressage concepts.

Katie and Vincent will help you expand your comfort zone to achieve top results at some of the most highly rated horse shows on the East Coast. Horse shows are a celebration of the training and work put in at home, and we make sure you’re prepared, relaxed, and able to fully enjoy the competitive atmosphere that makes horse shows special.
